Gedling Homes
In 2008, Gedling Borough Council's tenants voted overwhelmingly to transfer their homes to Gedling Homes. Gedling Homes now owns and manages all of our former council housing stock, and we work closely with them to ensure a great quality of life for people in our neighbourhoods.
The main reason for the stock transfer was to unlock millions of pounds of funding to deliver the Gedling Tenants Standard. This was the standard developed by tenants for their housing to meet. Gedling Homes is now well advanced with a major programme of works and refurbishments to deliver this, including double glazing, security improvements, kitchen replacements, bathroom replacements and modern, efficient heating systems.
We are also working together on the Public Realm Works programme - a series of improvements to our estates and neighbourhoods. These include new landscaping, fencing and lighting, resurfacing paths and car parks, removing derelict garages and installing new play equipment.

Gedling Borough Council is still responsible for housing benefits, accommodation for homeless people, new affordable housing development, regeneration and some issues relating to privately owned housing. We also jointly manage the Homesearch scheme, through which all Gedling Homes's properties are let. However, the final decision on who to let a property to rests with Gedling Homes.
