To celebrate the 100 year centenary since women received the vote, we are hosting a Picnic in the Park with a Suffrage theme and a showing of the film Mary Poppins at 4.00pm.
We are encouraging families to come along with a picnic and sample various activities, all free of charge. Gedling Play Forum will be providing arts and craft activities including paper kite making to tie in with the screening of Mary Poppins.
We will also have a Suffrage March starting from the Arnold Market Place at 11.30am and marching down to Arnot Hill Park culminating in pop up theatre highlighting womens suffrage. The march will be led by members of the Prospect Players in character and costume and is open to anyone who wishes to join in, ideally in costume and with banners, sashes and rosettes etc.
For safety reasons, we are asking under 14s to join the march at the park entrance opposite McDonalds at 12.30pm.
If any local groups would like to join in with this celebration, this can be dance, drama, choir, costumes, sport or anything connected to the Suffrage movement and the Edwardian era; we have a paved performance area with a power supply but will not have a stage/PA/lighting.
