Benefits & Support

Housing Benefit provides help with paying rent and Council Tax Benefit provides help with your council tax, if you are on a low income.

If you are on a low income, you may be entitled to claim.

If you are on a low income, you may be entitled to claim:

As this kind of benefit is 'means tested', the amount of benefit you receive will depend on your income, savings, household circumstances and 'needs allowance'.

If you have savings or investments of more than £6,000 (£10,000 for pension age customers) this may affect the amount of Council Tax Benefit you can get. If you have savings of more than £16,000 we cannot usually pay you any Council Tax Benefit. Although if you are in receipt of Pension Credits (Guaranteed) we will ignore all the capital you hold.

To find out if you are entitled to receive benefit, please try our benefit calculator, check our  Do I qualify page or browse the following links for more information:

To submit a claim you can complete an application form on-line.  You will need to provide proof of your identity, National Insurance number and income.  If you are claiming Housing Benefit you will also need to provide proof of rent, unless you are a council tenant.
